Learn wild woodland skills with Tir Coed

Getting out into the woods isn’t just good for our mental health, it also helps us appreciate one of our most precious natural resources.

Protecting and nurturing our woodlands while encouraging people to interact with these vital natural spaces is something charity Tir Coed enable people to do across the Dyfed Powys area.

Tir Coed run wellbeing and practical learning courses in probably the best classroom there is – the local woods.

There are a wide range of activities on offer, including the more adventurous kind like learning bushcraft, foraging for food and campfire cooking, as well as creative courses in woodcraft and making organic art.

For those who want to learn more about conservation, woodland management and the countryside skills side of things, Tir Coed also offer accredited courses, including specialist progression training in subjects like tree planting, producing wood fuel and social forestry.

If you’re not sure which activities might suit you, they even offer introductory ‘taster sessions’, giving you the opportunity to have a go at different things and discover what you really enjoy.

To find out more about getting involved in Tir Coed’s outdoor activity sessions or to become a volunteer, visit their website for more information. You can check out all their latest events here.

And if you want to see their work in action, why not catch a video or two on their YouTube page?
