Whether you’re looking for a new artistic hobby or are already enthusiastically immersed in the art of printmaking, Walden Arts, a new art space and print studio in Cardigan, is sure to inspire your creativity.
Co-founders, renowned artists and printmakers, Elvira Rose Oddy and Spike Gascoigne have transformed the Old Sail Loft in Middle Mwldan into a welcoming venue, where both practised artists and complete beginners can feel at home. It’s a place to connect with others, share skills, be inspired and see where your own creative journey will take you.
The studio is fully equipped with a wide range of workshops available, all under the expert guidance of Spike and Rosy. If you’re just dipping your toe into the world of print making, an introduction to printmaking might be the course for you. You can also try your hand at mono printing, screen printing and etching.
If you’re an artist who wants to develop your practice among likeminded people, The Thursday Art Club is a relaxed space in which to explore your craft with mix of drawing, painting and elements of printmaking. And if you have previous printmaking experience, the Print Club offers assisted open-access sessions – or you can work unassisted once you’re back into the swing of things.
If the kids need a new creative outlet, check out the After School Art Club, a place for 9- to 15-year-olds to express themselves through art and have fun experimenting with different techniques.
Co-founder Rosy is thrilled the studio and creative workshops have been a big hit so far:
“We have been blown away by the response from the local community in our first term. So exciting having artists in the space and feels great to be adding to the rich creative community in West Wales.”
