Wales Community Food Distribution launches first food hub

Wales Community Food Distribution, led by PLANED, is thrilled to launch its first food hubs in June and July. The project facilitates volunteers to link with food producers and suppliers to have easy access to healthy and great value food.

The food hub in Pembroke will be launching on 20th June at 3.30pm in Foundry House, followed by a second food hub in the Old Chapel, Lower Frog Street,  Tenby on 1st July at 11am. Boths hubs will initially offer fresh fruit and vegetables with a view to growing a produce range in the future.

This is the first to open, whilst we continue to develop hubs across the south west Wales region.

Peter Coleman Trustee says,

‘It’s brilliant to have a community food hub within the Foundry House! It’s a great offer to the local area – convenient too!’

Led by PLANED, this project has received funding through the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and the Welsh Government
