Elbows and Crumbs: the Cardigan chef helping people in need

Renowned Cardigan pop up chef Angela Doherty of the fabulous foodie company Elbows and Crumbs is starting a new catering venture to provide free meals to anyone who may be going through a tough time at the moment.

With the support of local companies and volunteers, Angela will be running her kitchen every Wednesday in the centre of Cardigan. Angela explains:

“I do private orders for clients every week. So, I started asking people to nominate a local unsung Covid 19 hero – someone who’s kept the community going – and we’d would donate a meal to them to thank them for everything they do. And then, I thought it would be nice to expand that to provide food to even more people who need it.

Anyone who might be struggling to cook or shop for themselves, are busy helping the community or are just having a hard time. Services like the food bank are really stretched. It’s difficult for everyone and might be for some time to come. I just want to feed people. The way it is at the moment, we need to share a little bit of love don’t we?”

4CG car park have given the project the use of the kitchen on site and West Wales growers C & M Organics are donating their lovely produce for Angela to transform into delicious and nutritious meals. As well as being open to anyone who would like to pop by and get themselves a hot meal, Angela also has an army of volunteers who can pick up and drop off food in the Cardigan, St Dogmaels and Cilgerran areas.

Once the service hits its stride, Angela plans on setting up a Go Fund Me for anyone who’d like to donate. Or if you can help in any other way, you can contact Angela on Facebook.

Angela and her volunteers will be welcoming people every Wednesday from 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm at the 4CG car park kitchen (in Cardigan town centre near the Eco Shop and Priory Vets).

    1. Oops apologies for the late reply Carol! You may have found Elbows & Crumbs by now but if not, there’s a reference to their location in this article: “Angela and her volunteers will be welcoming people every Wednesday from 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm at the 4CG car park kitchen (in Cardigan town centre near the Eco Shop and Priory Vets)”

If you click on the link for the 4CG car park, you’ll be guided to the map location. Hope it helps!
