Connect with the community at charity centre

A new purpose-built facility in Kidwelly is to be the base for the ‘John Burns Foundation’ – the in-house charity established by successful pet nutrition company ‘Burns Pet Food’.

The charity delivers grassroots projects in the local community as well as nationwide charity campaigns. The accessible centre that is now home to the charity also has rooms available for hire which could help provide a space for local community groups and services. A NEW chair-based Zumba class (perfect for those with mobility issues) is one such group benefiting from the space for their weekly classes. Following National Lottery funding received at the start of the year the charity is also hoping to establish a ‘Food for thought’ project at the centre. This will include a newly constructed (and fully accessible) educational food preparation kitchen. The scheme will aim to teach people how to prepare healthy meals and discover the benefits of cooking from scratch using healthy seasonal produce.
