While 2020 has been a tough year, the good news for young people needing support is that Area 43 re-opened in September. A haven for young people in West Wales for over 20 years, the Cardigan-based youth drop-in centre is an invaluable community resource offering support, training and information to people aged 16-25.
They also provide schools-based, online and in-centre counselling services for 10-25-year olds.
The hub is a welcoming space where local young people can connect with each other, build confidence and access training and activities that help them develop important life skills. They can also help with practical support like food bank vouchers and feminine hygiene products.
Although social distancing has had an impact on normal services, the support team are still there for anyone who needs help. At the time of writing, the centre is open for drop-in sessions from 10am to 1pm on weekdays and the outreach team are out and about in Cardigan town.
So, if you or someone you know needs to access mental health support or wants to find out more about what the charity offers, why not contact Area 43? You’ll find all the latest news and service updates on the Area 43 Facebook page or you can take a closer look at what they do on their website.
And if you’d like to talk to someone or arrange an appointment, just give them a call on 01239 614566 or email dropin@area43.co.uk.
