Spring might be a close contender, but for most of us autumn is the best time of year to go exploring in the woods. If you live in Ceredigion, you can do just that with the help of Actif Woods Wales Aberystwyth.
It’s all part of the Coed Lleol (Small Woods Wales) Actif Woods Wales programme, supporting and encouraging people to connect with nature to improve their health and wellbeing. (After all, who doesn’t feel great after a stroll through crunchy leaves on a sunny autumn day?)
With so much evidence out there to support the benefits of exercising and being in green spaces, the initiative is focused on making our local woodlands more accessible to people which chronic health conditions. Accessible walks are a big part of the scheme, but there’s lots more to it. As well as keeping ourselves healthy and happy, it’s also about making sure we understand and care for our precious woodland.
If you feel like getting back to nature, there are plenty of health and wellbeing activities on offer from foraging, yoga and bush craft to campfire cooking and wildlife spotting. And if you have difficulty getting out and about, the group can bring nature to you via online workshops, activity guides and talks. Whatever your interests, you’re bound to find something that’s your cup of tea!
So, pack your poncho, dust off your walking boots and find what’s going on in north Ceredigion on the Actif Woods Wales Aberystwyth Facebook page.
