Little did staff and members of Pembrokeshire People First (PPF – a centre run by and for people with learning disabilities and/or autism) know, that when the pandemic hit in March 2020, they’d still be communicating remotely 12 months down the line.
What an interesting time it has been for people with additional needs globally – life can be challenging enough in a ‘regular’ world without having to navigate a plethora of new information, continuously changing rules and alternative ways of working. Yet, what PPF have achieved online during this year is seriously mind bending, including their AGM over zoom, weekly group activities, attendance of Board meets for various committees and the development of new projects to support the learning disability community.
So when the PPF team ran their Manifesto Day via zoom last month to determine key actions for activity over the next two years, what a joy it was to be asked to make a fun edit to their meeting finale, proudly embracing their new strapline.
Just Be…
At the same time, as the vaccinations for covid-19 were starting to roll out in serious numbers, anxiety was increasing within the additional needs community about what to expect and how to manage this new process. We worked with PPF staff member Meinir to help share her experience of the vaccination process to help give others an insight in advance. Here’s the final cut which was shared in one of the weekly Hwyel Dda University Health Board vaccine bulletins. Great work Meinir.
