It’s Place2Be Children’s Mental Health Week from 7th to 13th February. With 1 in 6 children having a diagnosable mental health condition, the aim is to highlight the issues children face and support them to improve their mental wellbeing.
Each year has a different theme, with this year’s being ‘Growing Together’. The focus is on helping children explore how they have developed as a person, finding ways to fulfil their potential and looking at how they might support others to flourish and grow.
Whether you’re a teacher or a parent, you’ll find lots of useful activities for school and home, as well as useful advice and support information on the Children’s Mental Health Week website. Resources are available in English and Welsh.
With all the extra challenges children have faced over the last two years, being more vigilant about supporting their mental health and encouraging them to be open about problems has never been more important. If you think your child might need some help to improve their mental health, there are local support organisations that can help in West Wales.
To find help in your area, visit the West Wales Action for Mental Health directories search page, select the category ‘Children and Young People Mental health Support’ and then check ‘Carmarthenshire/Ceredigion/Pembrokeshire’.
