B Fit with local health and fitness club, the wellness focused studio with a difference

For many, the idea of going to the gym at any point in their lives is met with feelings of fear, anxiety or just general disinterest. Conjuring up images of sweaty bodies competing for equipment, or extreme fitness goals, and personal trainers yelling at them to work harder and faster.

B Fit health and fitness club, based at Haven Head Business Park in Milford Haven, is a family-owned business which has more to it than meets the eye. In fact, it has become known as ‘The Gym for people who hate Gyms’.

Originally developed and launched in 2016 by Brett Sheppard, the idea for the business came from his own personal health experiences as a teenager growing up in Wales.

Brett struggled with his weight and experienced constant battles with food and exercise. It was these struggles that led Brett into researching more and more into healthy nutrition and exercise. Sifting through the amount of junk found on losing weight and maintaining a healthy lifestyle Brett managed to put together a formula through education and research that completely transformed his life.

“In 2016, B-Fit began from humble beginnings and a mission to help people across the county to turn their fortunes around and to enjoy and happier, healthier, and more fulfilling life.”

This journey had completely changed his life and it is this passion and expertise that has allowed him to carve out a career in the health and fitness industry and transform 1000’s of people lives through his personal training, group coaching and online training programs. This transformation allows Brett to fully understand and connect with his client base on the struggles of losing weight and getting healthy.

He understands the frustration and stress following a healthy diet plan can create and the struggles and challenges you will face when wanting to make a positive change. Most importantly, he understands how to get there.

B Fit is described as a nutrition, wellness and exercise studio and Brett states he understands how intimidating stepping into the gym for the first time can feel. Each programme is tailored to suit the person who is using it and to gain achievable results. It’s all about making people feel more confident and positive in themselves and helping them to make the lifestyle changes and choices that they desire.

Many of the members are over 60, some are new or expectant mums wanting to get fit and improve their mental well being.  There are also weekly ladies only sessions available. All abilities are welcome, with fully trained and experienced coaches on hand to assist.

Charlie Braddick is a personal trainer at B Fit and has been part of the Milford Waterfront meet the team series. She says B Fit is more than just a gym.

“We’re all about lifestyle coaching and supporting people to lead a healthier lifestyle. We want to help people to get stronger, generally fitter and offer in-depth technique coaching.

We also launched a running club at the beginning of the year with 3 different levels; 2.5km, 5km and 10km. It takes place at 6:45pm on a Tuesday and is a great way of working towards doing Milford Waterfront parkrun, which takes place every Saturday morning, or a perfect complement to our strength and conditioning small group classes.”

Charlie has completed her Level 3 qualification in pre and post-natal studies and says she really enjoys working with women to improve their general health, fitness and begin to build their strength after having a baby.

“We provide a safe and relaxed atmosphere with like-minded individuals and encourage and welcome children and babies into our gym with open arms as we are aware of the pressures and time constraints on new mums.”

B Fit offer small group sessions or one to one personal training sessions with nutritional advice. Feedback for the business has been positive, with many clients taking to social media express their positive feelings on joining the club. B Fit are also keen to support their members and spread the joy of their fitness achievements through their Facebook page.

One B Fit member noted the ways in which B Fit is different to other gyms and has improved his overall health

“What I like about B Fit is the friendliness of the team. I joined up via a Facebook post pre-Christmas in anticipation of needing weight loss after Christmas. It’s become so much more than that. My whole posture and stance have improved. It’s actually made my life so much better. I’m walking taller and I feel a much better person.”

B Fit also note the social aspect of attending their gym, aside from physical and mental wellbeing. ‘The gym is more than just a place to work out. It’s a place to meet people, interact and socialise. A place to escape and meet other likeminded people all on similar journeys. A place to rely on for reasons much deeper than vanity.’

In future, B Fit plan to continue the great work they are doing within the community, as well as to launch the Kids Fit programme alongside other community projects such as the running club and weekly group sessions.’

With monthly memberships, day passes and visitors passes available as well as free trials to discover what B Fit can offer for you.
