Sharing Kindness Project strengthens communities in Carmarthenshire

Carmarthenshire County Council continue to emphasise the importance of the sharing kindness (Sir Garedig) project which is running throughout Carmarthenshire.

“As we continue to live and work through the Covid-19 pandemic, we need to do all we can to help people in need, particularly older and vulnerable people in our communities.”

Recent information released through their website notes that many people of the older generation, who have become isolated and lonely during the pandemic, are unable to carry out simple tasks due to the necessity to stay at home and stay safe. They note that those who are able to help can contribute in a way to make a real difference.

Residents and businesses across Carmarthenshire are showing remarkable community spirit by helping and supporting those in need in their communities during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

They note that a number of voluntary groups have been set up to help wherever they can, offering both practical and emotional support – which is an amazing thing to see.

“Sharing Carmarthenshire’s Kindness will connect people in need with those that can help. It will provide a focal point for community activities and encourage people to share stories of kindness. Sir Gâredig is about helping people to help each other, as we all get through this together. So, if you want to help please get in touch; and if you need help or support in any way please contact us so we can help to arrange it for you.”

The Connect to Kindness campaign which was launched in July 2020 across Wales has prompted movements and actions in communities all across the country, including West Wales.

Following on from this, Carmarthenshire County Council have recently released an article on Looking after your Wellbeing, containing useful tips for self-care such as connecting with others, keeping your mind active and looking after your sleep. Each section also contains handy links to further information, such as health advice from the NHS, healthy recipes from online blogs and advice on finding information and staying safe online.

The Carmarthenshire County Council say,

“During these new, strange and sometimes difficult times, it’s more important than ever to make time to look after your health and wellbeing. We’ve pulled together some information which we hope will help.”
