One Year Sober: Life in technicolour

You may have noticed that the number of light-hearted jokes about our rising alcohol consumption during this period has increased somewhat.

Reaching for our favourite tipple is a way of life for many and this is often triggered by our needs and wants to unwind from daily life or to socialise with friends whilst enjoying delicious food and drink. Some of us just love the taste,

‘Drinking’ is part of a global culture and based on the annual global average alcohol consumption in 2016 being 6.4 liters per person (equivalent to 53 bottles of wine), it remains a popular habit.

Yet what if you’re that person who simply doesn’t enjoy this culture? And what happens if you decide to stop drinking and you ask for a cordial when you turn up at a party?

Lisa Smith from St Davids Yoga and owner of St Davids Wellbeing turns some of our beliefs upside down and combats the stigma by sharing her personal experience of being one year sober.
