Herbs have been used since ancient times for their medicinal properties. These natural wonders can reduce inflammation, support the immune system and aiding digestion to mention a few.
One of the easiest ways to enhance the flavour of food is to add herbs, enabling you to cut back on salt without sacrificing taste and to digest essential vitamins our bodies need to survive.
Whether fresh or dried, knowing how to use herbs and when to add them during the preparation and cooking process is important.
Learn more about cooking, nutritional benefits and storing herbs with a range of recipes to try during a workshop with Kate Iceton from Love Nutritious Food at the Perennial Gardens and Cafe, St Davids.
During the workshop, you will learn about common types of culinary herbs that you can grow or buy locally. You will learn how to prepare, use and cook with herbs so you can heighten the flavour of food.
There will be a cookery demonstration and then participants will prepare two – three dishes. The Perennial team will conclude the workshop with tips on planting and growing of herbs.
All equipment, ingredients, use of an apron, packaging to take the dishes home and a pot of herbs of your choice are included.
