Many stories of courage, dedication and kindness have emerged from this recent period, but the news of 99 year old Captain Tom Moore completing the 100th lap of his garden to raise over £13 million for NHS Charities Together will stick with us forever.

Tom decided to set a personal challenge as his contribution to the fantastic service he has received from the NHS and to support their ongoing work during the coronavirus pandemic. His initial dream of raising ‘a few quid’ here and there snowballed when donations from 650,000 people surpassed his £1,000 target near the start.

The BBC filmed Tom’s final lap on 16th April in the presence of soldiers from Yorkshire’s British Army Regiment.
