Laughter Workshops – A workout you’ll be dying to get up for

Who doesn’t enjoy a good belly laugh?  In our eyes, laughter = smiles = happy times and we all need more of those.

As Life Seeker is all about inspiring you to create your own happiness, what could be more appropriate than us hosting Laughter Workshops in 2017.

More commonly known as ‘Laughter Yoga’, we’ve found from experience that many assume you need to bend into awkward positions. And because yoga entails heaps more than making bodily postures, we have decided to simplify things, and omit ‘yoga’ from the name.

You need ZERO EXPERIENCE to join a laughter workshop.

Here’s what it’s all about:

  • Laughter Yoga is a unique exercise routine which combines unconditional laughter with yoga breathing.
  • Laughter is initially stimulated as a physical exercise while maintaining eye contact with others in the group and promoting childlike playfulness. In most cases, this leads to real contagious laughter.
  • Science has proven that the body cannot differentiate against fake or real laughter.
  • Laughter Yoga is a powerful cardio workout and just 10 minutes of hearty laughter is equal to 30 minutes on the rowing machine (in terms of increasing blood circulation and relaxing the muscles).*

Check out some of the sounds coming from our first group of gigglers here:

We also spotted a good article on Laughter Yoga here if you’d like to read more.

On the day

We recommend you wear lose/comfortable clothing. The session begins with a gentle warm up, including chanting, clapping and body movement. This is followed by a series of laughter exercises. Following your ‘work out’ we will gather for refreshments and admire the view over Hilton Court Gardens.

Are you brave enough to lose your inhibitions and giggle the day away in return for a physical and emotional boost?

We are running laughter workshops in Pembrokeshire throughout the year – sign up to our eNews or watch our calendar of events to keep in the loop.
