MamGu Welshcakes for #thesmilefiles Winner

Following the great success of The Hilton Happy Weekend at Hilton Court Gardens & Crafts on May bank holiday, the giggles continued as we waded through #thesmilefiles competition entries.

The brief was easy; find your silly side, dress in a crazy disguise using the happy props box, snap your best comedy photo in #thesmilefiles photo booth and tag it on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter to submit your entry.

This is what resulted:

I watched some of these guys get involved and it was an absolute pleasure to see people from all walks of life, lose their inhibitions for just 5-10 minutes. Who knows what sensible roles some of these guys play in regular life and in this scenario, it’s not a bad thing that we don’t care. Because, this is a perfect example of taking time out to play smart and live well. A level playing field for all with happiness as the goal.

It’s surprising what a piece of wood with a hole in it and some yummy welshcakes can create.

So who was the winner?

After much deliberating over such tough competition, our deciding vote went to Claire Eaton from Milford Haven for submitting her team of smilers to Facebook. They were delighted and especially  liked our reasons:

Reasons we liked this shot; 1. There is a major attempt to disguise the original subjects (just one eye visible from the youngest lady). 2. Participating adults are totally committed to the silliness factor. 3. We can’t work out if the guy on the right is petrified or needs the loo?! 4. You simply made us SMILE.

…so much so that they posted this fabulous photo of their smallest smiler (Niecey) opening their MamGu welshcakes. Claire commented on Facebook:

Thank you so much to Life Seeker and Hilton Court Gardens for such a wonderful day out on Monday! We absolutely loved it and my lovely smilers are delighted that they have won this lovely prize! One in particular is extra happy (we had to stop to buy welsh cakes on the way home because she was so excited at the prospect of winning) 😂

Well done Cathy Eaton and Matt Jefferies for letting your big kid shine through! Thanks again and we look forward to your future events. It was absolutely brilliant!

And how were the welshcakes?

Ok, call us biased as we provided the MamGu Welshcakes and this was for a good reason, because THEY ARE #PROPER LUSH! Lovingly baked in St Davids, Pembrokeshire, talented ladies Thea and Becky are currently baking their socks off to meet demand. Their flavours are awesome; ginger, cinnamon and dark chocolate orange are my faves. Here’s a peek at their new packaging for 2017.
